International Honours

Congratulations to the following students who all represented Ireland over the summer in their respective sports:

Cricket

Olly Riley (4C) captained the U15 Irish cricket team when they travelled to Dumfries to play against Scotland in the Celtic Cup in early August. On his debut for Ireland, Olly scored 69 runs and took five wickets including a hat trick. The following week, the Irish team then travelled to Durham in England where they played and defeated four English county teams and the Netherlands to win the Barnard Castle Cricket Festival. Huge thanks to Cricket Ireland for organising this trip.

Sailing

Jules Start (2B) was selected to represent Ireland at the European Optimist Championships in Soderberg, Denmark 1-5 August and was the top Irish boat there. The picture shows Jules receiving the trophy in honour of this, presented by Mr Mark Hennessy, Vice Commodore, Royal St George Yacht Club and Ms Mary Hanafin, Councillor.

Tennis

Charlie Riley (2D) was part of the team of two boys and two girls representing Ireland at the U14 European Championships in the Czech Republic in July. He was one of only three players born in 2009 to reach the last 32. Earlier in July, he was also part of a team representing Ireland in the U14 European Summer Cup held in Valencia. Huge thanks to Tennis Ireland for organising these trips.
