International Junior Science Olympiad

Well done to TY student Rohan Devereux, who competed at the International Junior Science Olympiad in Doha, Qatar, from the 3rd to the 12th of December. The Olympiad is a science competition for students under the age of 16. Rohan was one of 130 students invited to the Irish Junior Science Olympiad based on his Junior Certificate results. He was awarded a silver medal at the national Junior Science Olympiad and as a result qualified to represent Ireland internationally. Seventy different countries were represented by six students each at the Olympiad. The Olympiad tested the students’ skills in biology, chemistry and physics at a Leaving Certificate standard, and included two written exams and an experimental test. Against strong opposition, Rohan won a bronze medal, along with three other members of the Irish team.
