The library is located at the main entrance to the school and has a variety of resources, such as books (fiction/non-fiction/reference), magazines, DVDs, computers with internet access, and careers information. The library also subscribes to electronic resources such as JSTOR.

There are 70 study desks, two project rooms, and a reading corner with comfortable seating.

The purpose of the library is to provide a welcoming, calm space where students and staff can research, study and read, to give access to good-quality fiction books, general reference works and resources which complement the various curriculum subjects, and to help students develop effective research skills.

  • All students and staff are automatically set up with library accounts.

  • Students can borrow up to four items at a time.

  • Books can be kept for three weeks, and DVDs for one night.

Great Reads Award

The Great Reads Award is an awards scheme for debut Young Adult authors. A shortlist of eight books has been drawn up by school librarians around Ireland, and students are invited to read as many books as they like and vote for their favourites. There are five books in the junior category (more suitable for 1st – 3rd year students) and five in the senior category (more suitable for 4th – 6th years). For more information on the award see here.

We were delighted to host the second annual Great Reads Award ceremony in the Theatre on Friday 9th February 2018.  We welcomed readers from other schools as well as several of the shortlisted authors. The winners were: Senior Winner and “Most Read”: One of Us is Lying by Karen M. McManus. Junior Winner: Wing Jones by Katherine Webber; “Most Read”: The Hypnotist by Laurence Anholt and The Girl in Between by Sarah Carroll. See photos of the event here.

MS Readathon

This annual fundraising activity for the Multiple Sclerosis Society in Ireland is open to all students in 1st, 2nd and 3rd Year. This year a total of €183 was raised.

Author Visits

We regularly host author visits so students can learn about the process of writing. In the last couple of years we have been delighted to welcome Padraig Kenny, Emma Quigley, Dave Rudden, Barry McCrea, and James Butler.
